SAB Bröckskes presents SABdynamic 900 and 910, a new generation of CSA and UL/cUL approved cables – made in Germany for worldwide use. The special cable manufacturer thus extends its range by permanently flexible control and data cables, which are equally suitable for drag chains and robot-compatible torsion applications. Both cable variants can withstand over 10 million bending cycles and over 10 million torsion cycles up to ±180°/m or 5 million up to ±360°/m. An added advantage of the new generation is the reduced cable capacitance. The SABdynamic 900 and 910 data variants achieve very high signal integrity, due to the reduced material thickness of the SABIX-based insulating sleeve. Therefore, they ensure interference-free and loss-free data transmission for real-time applications even with cable lengths over 20 m. The new SABdynamic 900 and 910 cable series, each manufactured in control and data versions, are designed for voltages up to 350 V and 600 V respectively and can withstand temperatures between -40 °C and 90 °C. In addition, they have an excellent TMPU-tested oil resistance according to EN 50363-10-2 and VDE 0207-363-10-2 as well as good chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents and hydraulic fluids. They are UV-resistant according to HD 605, ozone-proof according to DIN EN 50396, saltwater-resistant according to UL 1309 as well as RoHS-compliant and LABS-non-critical. In addition, both versions are PFAS-free, which offers users operational safety even in the event of a PFAS ban. Thanks to the halogen-free material mix with a flame-retardant, self-extinguishing PUR jacket, both product series meet the approval criteria for the North American market. SAB Bröckskes supplies S900 Data by default in the format 12 x 0.14 mm˛ as a multi-core unshielded cable as well as in four multi-pair shielded variants. The S910 Data version is available in three standard versions. SAB Bröckskes offers standard control cables as two multi-core unshielded and two multi-core shielded options. On request, the manufacturer develops and produces bespoke solutions with customer-specific dimensions, different sheath colors and individual cable designs.

SAB Bröckskes designs special sensor cables for environmental monitoring, offering individual requirements engineering with regard to environmental compatibility, ruggedness, weight, insulation and sheath materials. Sensor-based biomarker tracking is gaining importance in environmental monitoring and ranges from long-term air and water quality monitoring to sample evaluation of farm surface water and real-time water level monitoring. The reliability and longevity of the sensor systems are crucial in all monitoring tasks. Wired connections have proven to be a robust and reliable solution. High transmission capacities and data rates can be achieved via USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet, depending on the sensor and measurement task. However, the ecological footprint has a negative impact if critical raw materials are combined or in case of less sustainable manufacturing processes. ‘For this reason, we attach great importance to sustainability in production and material selection,’ says Marc Gerlatzek, Business Development for the Medical Technology and Assembly Division at SAB Bröckskes. ‘For example, the jacket material in our SABorganic series consists of around 45 percent ecological, environmentally friendly raw materials. As a result, we reduce our CO2 footprint by an average of 25 percent compared to comparable fossil products. We source the materials from short, regional supply chains.’ Sustainable, resource-saving production processes are just as relevant for the life cycle assessment. SAB Bröckskes now generates around a quarter of its electricity needs from renewable sources from its own photovoltaics systems.

The German special cable manufacturer SAB Bröckskes will present wiring solutions for construction machinery and agricultural and special vehicles at the bauma trade fair in Munich, Germany, 7 to 13 April 2025, at booth A2-441A. The exhibition shines a spotlight on double EMC-shielded high-voltage (HV) cables from the HV 1000 C series with single core (SC) and multi-core (MC) versions. The HV 1000 C SC line is ideal, amongst others, for the electrical connection of inverters and electric motors and includes nine sizes with nominal cross-sections from 4 mm˛ to 95 mm˛. The MC range comes in versions from 2 x 4.00 mm˛ to 5 x 6.00 mm˛ with applications as connecting cables to the cabin heating, the electric compressor or the HV heat pump in electric and hybrid vehicles, for example. The SC and MC cables feature high mechanical strength and resistance to environmental influences as well as very good oil and temperature resistance from -50 °C to 90 °C. The extremely tensile, abrasion and shear-resistant outer sheaths enable tight bending radii. The portfolio provides high robustness by default, with flame-retardant and self-extinguishing materials in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 as well as high mud, UV, ozone and salt water resistance. In addition to the standard versions, SAB Bröckskes also manufactures other cross-sections and sheaths in other colors and assembles cables with matching connectors on request. The offer for HV measurement technology includes connection cables for acceleration sensors (IEPE) and strain gauges, HV measuring cables for DC and AC voltage measurement as well as highly flexible HV cables for temperature measurement. The overall portfolio furthermore includes type K single- and multi-channel HV sensors, Pt100/Pt1000 HV sensors and HV test adapters. In addition, SAB Bröckskes and its technology partner CSM have developed measurement modules for the safe testing of HV components in vehicles and test benches.

SAB Bröckskes, an established expert in the development and production of special cables Made in Germany, is responding to the trend and increasing demand for products made from renewable raw materials. Now, the manufacturer has introduced a new, CO2-reduced series of data and control cables. The SABorganic S 1000 cable, which can be twisted by 60° per meter, has an outer sheath made of polyurethane based on organic materials. The new material is sourced from short, local supply chains and consists of 45% renewable raw materials. This reduces the carbon footprint by an average of 25% versus comparable fossil-dependent products. The new, more climate-friendly cable measures up to conventional SAB drag chain cables such as the S 200 in all relevant product properties. The SABorganic S 1000, offered by SAB Bröckskes as Control and Data versions, is available by default in various unshielded and shielded types with 3 to 20 wires in cross-sections between 0.14 mm˛ and 10.0 mm˛. According to the manufacturer, additional sizes can be realized on request. The new sheath material is halogen-free and flame-retardant according to IEC 60332-1-2, thus minimizing potential fire hazards. In addition, SABorganic S 1000 is resistant to mineral-oil-based lubricants and many chemicals.
The new series is ozone-resistant in accordance with EN 50396, UV and weather-resistant in accordance with HD 605 and free of substances that interfere with paint wetting. SAB’s CO2-reduced sheath material concept is transferable to other products. Determining factors are the customer requirements and the individual application area for the cable. Energy savings due to comparatively low processing temperatures and low cable weights, which reduce transport costs, also contribute to the improved life cycle assessment of the new series. Not included in the CO2 reduction of the SABorganic S 1000 series is the steadily growing share of self-generated electricity from renewable energies. In recent years, the company has pushed ahead with the expansion of renewable energies. SAB now covers around a fourth of its electricity consumption from its own photovoltaics systems.

The SABorganic S 1000 will be presented at this year’s SPS at the SAB stand in Hall 2/330.

In view of growing data volumes in automation and drive technology, the trend is towards so-called One Cable Technology (OCT). SAB Bröckskes, one of the technology leaders in industrial Ethernet cabling, has developed several application-specific product series for hybrid and OCT cabling. The special cable manufacturer offers SL 875 C low-capacity hybrid motor cables as connection solutions for SICK HIPERFACE DSL and HEIDENHAIN HMC6. Adaptations to other standards are available on request. Cables specified for HIPERFACE are available in 10 standard versions with outer diameters from 9.8 mm to 24.4 mm. In addition, there are four specifications in the HEIDENHAIN standard with diameters ranging from 10.8 mm to 15.4 mm. Robust, hard-wearing cable sheaths ensure that the cables are sufficiently flexible and durable to withstand narrow bending angles over the long term, even with minimal core cross-sections down to AWG 30, corresponding to a core cross-section of 0.057 mm˛. To achieve the lowest possible capacity, SAB Bröckskes has replaced the conventional PVC insulation with low-capacity insulation materials made of PE or PP. Additional small shield capacities ensure low-loss transmission. For optimal EMI protection, SAB Bröckskes motor and servo cables feature double shielding made of shielding braid and an aluminum-laminated PE film. The double shielding ensures interference-free operation of frequency inverters. Symmetrical stranding with a split protective conductor reduces inductive couplings and improves EMC properties.
